I don't think this fully explained by belief in an afterlife & I don't think it'll go away if no-1 believes in 1 for centuries. Cld be wrong
-
I'm atheist. I don't believe in the supernatural etc. But I love folklore, traditions, rituals etc. How we treat the ppl in our lives, alive
-
or dead, is part of who we are. Many have meaning. And no religion influences this for me. So, I will always take part in the traditions
-
Surrounding live & death. Simply because they have meaning beyond religion.
-
Also pointing out that religion is manmade, just like traditions. Religion Simply gave a religious meaning to a lot of rituals & traditions
-
Often to make religion an attractive road to follow. So, I don't think they have a ownership over these things.
