I already feel sorry for asking, but what exactly is the motivation for those who want gender to be considered a purely social construct?

In particular, women are over-emotional, irrational, fickle, bad at maths & science. Therefore men must control them & run the world.
-
Women in general feel more 'gender-fluid' than men, right?
-
Don't know. More flexibility of sexuality seems to have been shown but this seems to have a different basis to what I was talking about.
-
Well, I dunno. It would seem to me that you can accept women = men in reason, while retaining gender differences.
-
I suspect it's more to do with sex stuff to be honest, i.e. the hardships of the mating game.
-
What is?
-
i.e. I suspect the motivations for gender neutrality could be borne of frustrations with mating/reproduction game. Just a guess.
-
Oh I don't know - I haven't thought through it that hard. Could be all sorts of things.

It also has a family relationship with Marxist idea that people are born virtuous and corrupted by capitalism: i.e. both ideologies (1/2)
-
... rely on idea that when forces of darkness (patriarchy/capitalism) r vanquished, no vestiges of their effects (gender/class) will remain.
-
All forms of teleological utopianism seem to require commitment to implausible beliefs about human nature, along similar lines.
-
(Sorry if I was butting in here - thought it was intended as an open question.)
-
Oh don't worry, but I find it hard to respond to everyone's answers. Hard enough to keep up with Helen.
