Liberal or not, is really not the point. It's the original idea. Any religion is meant to be peaceful. Some use those books for their agendas
-
-
Then I support the liberals and oppose the conservatives & radicals like I do with every other group. You seem to want to make it monolithic
-
By believing the peaceful & egalitarian people & insisting those who do violence & bigotry in its name are motivated by something else.

You don't see how that's dangerous..again,people do,not ideas.Doesn't matter what they justify it w/,it mustn't be treated as the same idea
-
Then how can we ever counter it? If we don't accept people's motivations? This undermines reformers & counter-extremists.
-
Motivation is the key here. Can you call two ideas the same if the key difference is motivation and thus result two very different forms?
-
What? People act on different ideas. Religious people cherry-pick & interpret. But they're still inspired by same sources.
-
It's not a coincidence that support for gender equality,LGBT equality, freedom of belief is much lower among Muslims than general population
-
True. It's also very low in any God fearing religion.. but that's not what we're discussing. That's a whole new argument
-
Its exactly what I'm discussing! What I've shown stats for! I'm leaving it here. This is pointless.
-
My only meaning was to debunk a name and separate ideas since it has a different definition.Important not to marginalise or radicalise them.
