I think you need to look at the problem they are criticising - current movement & activists. Saying 'Feminism=gender equality' evades issuehttps://twitter.com/haltncatchf1re/status/885856916886474753 …

But they're not having a detached conversation abt what the most positive definition of feminism is but what it looks like right now.
-
'No true Scotsman' arguments can only take you so far & 'but that's not really feminism' just defends ideology & ignores associated problems
-
In same way, 'that's not true Islam' doesn't actually address what people are doing in name of Islam that is negatively affecting the world.
-
No it doesn't.But it points out a difference. Unfortunately it's only a negative sign against the original word, which is mistakenly ignored.
-
It just doesn't mean the same thing any more! It is so much more than gender equality. Its one approach to it & its a bad one.

Well, I can relate to that. I just think that not pointing out the difference paves the way for degenerated movements and more intolerance.
-
I think most people do understand the difference between gender equality & current feminism. They support former & reject latter.
-
We're in a post-feminist world now, anyway. Not much justification for addressing gender equality from perspective of one gender.
-
It's not from the perspective of one gender. If you think it is,you're missing something here. That's basically an argument against equality.
-
It absolutely is! It looks at the ways men are advantaged over women & ignores or denies the ways women are advantaged over men.
-
You'll find the occasional feminist protesting men being penalised so much more harshly for same crimes. 1000s repeating wage gap myths.
