This is a category error. People worth talking to have a wide range of ideas. So do people not worth talking to & better ignored.
However, as a side point, whether or not someone is a significant influence depends on who they are influencing & whether you respect them.

Some big names among MRAs & alt-right have attacked me. I don't care coz they have zero influence among people whose thinking I respect.
-
This also isn't about attacking anyone. It is about having a discussion or ignoring a discussion based on being "big"
-
I ignore them when they try to have a discussion with me too. I'm ignoring a very big one right now. Nothing to gain from it.
-
Nothing to gain from discussion? Do you think both you and I will leave this discussion having gained nothing? If so, why bother?
-
I have clearly said there is nothing to gain from certain people's discussions. Those who are rigid & wed to an ideology. No common ground.
-
I don't believe you need common ground with everyone you converse with. It's good to disagree. Hone your argument. Plant seeds of doubt
-
I think you do have to be prepared to try to find some common ground even if its just 'we both care about human rights'
-
Coz then you can go from there. Its not just 'You're evil & wrong' 'No, you're evil & wrong.' Me, on this:pic.twitter.com/yP24pHDoy2

In this case the context of the conversation mentions platform and so reach is easily inferred. To suggest otherwise is obtuse at best

You don't need to be a mindreader thankfully because you have the conversation as context. Each tweet is not a unique idea, it holds context
