Do you can't be a scientist and have kids as well?

Perhaps in some cases that's helicopter parenting if kids have a disability or psych problem but more benefit from some independence.
-
Did you want to be with your mother all the time? I didn't. I wanted a full life with variety & also some time to myself.
-
I don't ppl realise what a burden it can be for kids if their mother makes them her world. Especially if they've been at school at day.
-
My mother didn't go back to work until I was 12 & it was a relief. She had something else in her life. Wasn't all my responsibility.

Mothers dont lose their personal identities Just because they start a family. Scientists with a family bring valuable insights to their work
-
I agree completely. I'm talking about people who think motherhood should be the entirety of an identity. I advocate doing both.

My son's pediatrician STRONGLY encouraged me to keep non-parental roles and activities at a healthy, active level. She's a mom& GREAT Dr.

She's sensible! Whilst some people might be workaholics & others might be ...homeaholics (?) I think most people fulfilled by bit of both.
