Do you can't be a scientist and have kids as well?

The hours it takes to be a good scientist, would be hours that prevent one from being a truly good mother. That's just how it is.
-
It's not though. And it would necessarily prevent one from being a good father. And then we'd have no scientists.
-
Obviously, if you're defining a 'good mother' as one that never does anything else it is but its far from clear that this is best for kids.
-
I do not see any proof that children are actually better off, now that Mothers have left the home in mass.
-
1) Women have always worked. 2) They haven't left the home en masse. They just go to work. 3) Evidence kids are better off if they don't?
-
It seems very likely the best parents are the attentive ones who give their kids the love & support & guidance they need
-
Perhaps in some cases that's helicopter parenting if kids have a disability or psych problem but more benefit from some independence.

Did you want to be with your mother all the time? I didn't. I wanted a full life with variety & also some time to myself.

Yeah, duh. Once women become scientists they're tossed into their basement laboratory and only let out for conferences.
