      I've been in countless situations where I was yelled at, intimidated, cursed etc. My job was to de-escalate. To stay calm, warn them etc.

      I think it would be more upsetting if its a person with mental health issues. Much easier not to take it personally when it's brain damage.

      eg 1 man would call me 'bitch' & 'cunt' &swing at me & his wife said 'This isn't him. He once punched a man for swearing in front of a lady'

      Whilst I don't agree with that, it made it very clear that the person I was dealing with was not the person he really was & I had sympathy.

      There are also famous examples of people doing horrifically bad things bc of neurological disorders.

      Yes. I watched a documentary on the number of violent criminals who had frontal lobe damaged - often caused by shaking as a baby.

      Included a kind, well-loved dentist who attacked a child in his chair & then the brain tumour in his frontal lobe was found.

          But in many cases it's also partly neurological. In that There's a lack/overflow of certain hormones or neurotransmitters. They're diseases

          We judge mental diseases differently. But I think this isn't always fair. You can't see it & it has greater effect on the ppl around him/her

          To a degree, I do. But not completely. It's why I always defend ppl who committed suicide. They get judged so easily.
