it was a bit sore, yes. He was angry because I couldn't make him a cup of tea due to med requirements. Non-verbal. V low IQ.

I found it genuinely more interesting than working with co-operative people. You can often find ways to help them feel calmer.

I have no idea why this works but often smiling warmly at someone with dementia for maybe a minute b4 approaching makes all the difference.

Maybe their ability to understand soothing words has gone but the ability to understand & empathise with a smile is deeper in the brain?
