Prince was an introvert who liked his own space & his dignity. He could be a bit humourless but was thoughtful & empathetic & responsible.
-
-
-
He largely ignored his hyperactive sister & grumbled at her effusiveness but he knew when she was scared & wld press against her & lick her
-
He worried about children. All children. And didn't quite trust humans to keep an eye on them. Puppies could go hang. # UncleTom
-
He would decline fights with other dogs without being submissive. He'd just pretend they weren't there & go about his business.
-
But if his sister annoyed other dogs (which she does a lot), he'd apologise for her & usher her away.
-
He liked his humans in one place but being quiet. He wished they'd understand that foxes are evil.
-
Can't get all that on a headstone so it says: Prince 2009 -2017 He knew he was a very good boy but we told him anyway.

Epitaph may be trite, but I imagine they offer something to those who do the burying.
-
I'm sure they do. Not going to do it for me. Feels too impersonal.
-
If I ever did something like make a head stone (never happen), the epitaph would seem inappropriate to anyone but me. Cats don't dance . . .
-
I think those are the best ones.

I hate how people talk about their pets like they aren't nuanced. My sis's terrier loved his own space and didn't suffer ppl gladly
-
But he was also very loving and protective of his family
