In my career, dismissing women's opinions was common & certainly more culturally accepted b/c there were more men in those workplaces.

Just look at the numbers of male/female hires. I don't believe the gap is attributed wholly to "women don't like science"...

The pool of tec degrees is same size for men & women? ratio less than 1/5, you can't hire what doen't exist https://public.tableau.com/en-us/s/gallery/women-tech-whos-receiving-computer-science-degrees …
-
Obviously, sexism plays a part in why those candidates don't exist, e.g. when tec firms no longer have that reputation more women will apply
-
Work in a tech firm, you'll find you're required to hire female coders at a ratio beyond what universities graduate for comp sci

Women also get special treatment in promotion processes, etc. Uber is the exception and look how hard they've been (correctly) vilified.
-
Preferential treatment of a group could lead to that group being paid less respect by others. Perceived as underqualified, not peers.
-
Yes, in fact, witnessed several women complain about their special treatment for exactly that reason.
-
Yes, it's a shame the tech boys put themselves in this position. They certainly messed up on this & the supposed cures are unsatisfactory.
