It was irritating and I persuaded him to stop it by laughing as if he was surely joking & saying 'Thanks, you're a good boy too.'

As if we were having a friendly joke together. He laughed too but uncertainly and he stopped doing it. He was from an earlier time.

I realise that if he'd been an arsehole, he could have made my life miserable but he wasn't & there are legal ways to address sexism now.
