Neither in academic circles where there are more women nor in skeptical, atheist, universal liberal ones where there are more men.

This is purely a 'lived experience' - anecdotal evidence - so I remain open to possibility that women's opinions are taken less seriously.
-
But I do think if an assumption that men's views are intrinsically more respect-worthy really did pervade society, I would have noticed.
-
I advocate liberalism & gender equality & criticise religion & postmodernism. Never got impression my take on these dismissed coz female.pic.twitter.com/hQPSHfiuZB
-
Some feminists have said that these analytics show that I am pandering to men's views & telling them what they want to hear.
-
If so, this means men want to hear that liberal values generally & gender/racial/LGBT equality in particular need defending & supporting.
-
Whilst irrationalist ideologies and particularly those which continue to evaluate people on their gender/race/sexuality are not helpful.
-
I don't think men think this more than women do & it's women who DM me privately to talk about this much more.
-
Sam Harris got in trouble for saying he thought atheist/skeptic groups had more men coz a certain polemical quality. Cld well be right.
-
Now some men have told me they follow me coz they share my values on gender equality but find their views dismissed by feminists.

It's an anecdote.
-
Agreed, but there are so many examples of this.
-
Are there? Do we really live in a culture where people are routinely respected or doubted by gender? Really?
-
I'm saying there are lots of voices out there expressing their experience of sexism, they can't all be ignored.
-
Don't ignore them. Don't only listen to them when they're women. Do ensure these are reasonable, evidenced complaints.
-
Well yes that goes without saying, it comes down to belief in that person's interpretation at the end of the day.

You may want to read about the experiences of women in hard STEM fields. It truly is pervasive. My husband and I were working together in
-
These experiences vary so much tho. And we'd also need to consider men's experiences in working in female-dominated fields.

Lucky you but just because you haven't experienced something doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
-
I don't suggest it does. I've seen both men & women told their opinion irrelevant coz sex but this is not a cultural norm.
