I've read metastudies that show that the biggest differences are observed in small samples. Also: confirmation/publishing bias.

Girls speak earlier consistently. Everywhere. And have better language and social skills generally. Everywhere.

Those who are highly able in maths are also more likely to be highly able verbally than men & consequently have more choices.

It is better in terms of pay, which has direct impact on people's quality of life. And it is a job market with high demand and low supply.

My job "in tech" has all those qualities. And I know it's not an exception. Sounds like your starting point is "what if everything is fine"?

Good for you. My starting point is that women don't have to make the same choices as men.

It *is* fine if men and women have different interests on average. And they do. What isn't fine is discrimination on this basis.

Making good choices invisible (culture and gender are good at that) is a form of indirect discrimination.
