Phrasing is important. Ppl might mean the same thing by concluding 'think about it' or 'don't you think?' but seldom received the same.

Just as 'Does that make sense?' often taken as 'I'm trying to teach you my wisdom' but 'Am I making sense?' as 'I'm aware I could be wrong.'
-
When someone tells me to 'think about it', my instinct is to tell them I think about it regularly & show how I do it better. Silly, I know
-
Whereas 'don't you think?' makes me want to agree with them as much as I can & present areas of disagreement courteously.
-
And 'Does that make sense' motivates me to argue that it doesn't whilst 'Am I making sense' makes me want to look harder for the sense.
