I think I'm going to have to go with this and make Mondays and Fridays cleaning & practical stuff days & write Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday.

My best friend called my inability to in any way multi-task 'man-like' & of course, I called her out on her casual sexism (No, I didn't).

Did you tell her research shows that nobody, in fact, actually multitasks, despite claims to the contrary?

So much depends on how you define it. I know I will do the washing up whilst the toast toasts whilst Dave will stand & watch it.

Sure. In such cases, one is switching attention repeatedly: serial tasking. The shift feels instantaneous, but isn’t, & slows you down (lag)

It's what people mean by multi-tasking tho & it does get things done faster than doing one job at a time in my experience.

Do you think? I find they think they’re doing things simultaneously. (Intriguingly, research shows frequent multitaskers are worse at it)

Hmm, no. I don't find people think of themselves as doing one job with one hand and another with another by 'doing it at the same time'

Maybe! If you find ppl think of it as doing two things literally at once rather than being in process of doing several jobs at same time.

Ppl will say 'I'm multitasking today, manning the phones, finishing the report & re-organising the filing system.'
