We'd need to separate parents who don't pay child support coz don't care abt child's wellbeing from those who can't pay it.

I'm not sure that in a study, or in real life, there is a burden of proof for parents to be presumed caring. Competent, yes. Caring, no.

Yes, exactly! Can't pay or won't pay. Reasonable amount demanded or unreasonable. That's what simple stats won't show.

They won't show my friends mother who kept her from father coz he didnt provide enough food whichever parent she was with

as soon as he got a new girlfriend. Stats wld show he stopped paying & she stopped his custody. Not financial bargaining tho.
