I enjoy almost zero of the things stereotypically enjoyed by men but have experienced much censure for not caring that they do.

This quote - 'Cool Girls never get angry; they only smile in a chagrined, loving manner and let their men do whatever they want.'

That I understand. Its somehow a betrayal of women not to take men doing things they like as a personal insult.
-
There have been times when I did not want my husband to go to the pub or have friends over for football & beer when Lucy was a baby.
-
And because he has four brothers, there have been times when the environment got altogether too male for my tastes.
-
But there is a tendency for gender ideologues to regard this as a personal insult rather than simply going away & leaving them to it.
-
And the rage at women who don't want to go away and leave them to it but actually want to join in stems from this.
-
Because then it appears its not intrinsically hostile to women to like sports, beer & video games & that simply isn't on.

I think from a male perspective thats not a "cool girl" that's s just an obnoxious low self esteemer. Cool girls are down to earth, not fake
-
I think those exist but I suspect the author is being uncharitable & reads all women who enjoy male company this way.
-
I replied hastily, I'd like to take it back. I should have said 'attention seeking phoney'; self esteem may or may not play a role.
-
Again, no. Some women genuinely like sports, beer, video games & male company. She's reading it as male attention seeking.
-
Its feminist version of a 'mangina'.Some men do seek female approval but also thrown at those who like typically female company
@steverific -
I've always enjoyed female company, I don't even understand those who can't have genuine platonic relations with the opposite sex

The "you can't be one of us unless you act a certain way" vibe I've gotten from way too many self-professed feminists reminds me of this...pic.twitter.com/RVpmYOkbzz

Furthers the stereotype that women play vidya for "male attention". Pretty fucked up, indeed.

Can't speak for the latter two, but when I was in my teens I loved it when I found a girl that liked video games as much as I did.
