I don't normally like 'virtue' names - Verity, Patience, Chastity - but if 'Clarity' could be one, I could make an exception.

I chose 'Lucy' for my daughter because it comes from the Latin noun that gives us 'lucid' & 'elucidate' - clarity.

But then I was thinking quite specifically in terms of religion & magical thinking. Now, I see the problem much more widely.

Meh. With enough expertise in etymology, joe would be all we had. Maybe not even that. "We love you #17!"

I chose Lauren coz it meant crowned with laurels/ free person. Audrey coz it means noble strength. That and I liked Audrey Hepburn 😁

My grandmother was called Lucy. Apparently she didn't much like the name, because when she was at school, the other kids called her Lucifer

If only she'd thought of that etymological link with "clarity", she'd have had the perfect comeback

Also my daughter's name...it came to me in several dreams before she was born + knew a funny 🇬🇧 girl with the name and she was delightful.
