What are you talking about? The '6/10' is just a hypothetical number to contrast to 9/10, James. Why is that insulting to you?
I'm not sure why you answered, John, if you don't want to think abt how to describe where America is in the goal of ending racial oppression

-
I would say I have a different take on that than you, not that I 'don't want to think about' how to describe it.
-
You don't want to think about a scale where 1 is the goal and how well your country is doing at getting closer to it.
-
Right! I want to look at the STATISTICAL data on where there are gross disparities and correct for those. The 1 to 10 scale does nothing.
-
That should inform how you measure, surely? Stats are only one part. They only measure outcomes but don't tell us why.
-
Or what is happening outside them. Here u could look at stats & think South Asians most privileged group but actually they face most racism
-
A scale is an estimate. I would put sexism at a 2, racism & homophobia at a 3, antisemitism at 4 & transphobia at a 5.
-
I could justify that with lots of data about attitudes, hate crimes, success etc & say how fast homophobia has moved down & antisemitism up.
-
Someone else could disagree and a conversation could happen which might make me shift my evaluations slightly.
