I have to admit this is my own observation when working in psychiatric hospitals & looking at gendered stats & large numbers of patients.

Then later reading some stuff around this but not exactly this. Men tend to try to solve their mental health problems on their own.

Often it works when the problem is mild & the solution is ignoring it & carrying on even more vigorously rather than alcohol or drugs.

Best thing for early depression/anxiety. Or if doesn't work, they put up with it & don't seek help until awful then seek permanent solution

Women more likely to address problem & talk about it but sometimes this leads to wallowing in the feelings & getting overwhelmed by them.
