Men are most likely to be violent to men they don't know whilst women are most likely to be violent to family members.

Helen, I've spent some time chatting but I absolutely believe this is preventable and inexcusable and that we ALL have a part to play.
-
We'll have to agree to disagree. Good luck to you.
-
OK but please at least consider gendered issues on the statistics on violence, the law, social norms, prosecution differences, protections.
-
Don't just take the one that shows more DV done by men to women than other way & assume sexism & women being told to be pretty.
-
Helen, this started as a conversation about violence against women. My focus will remain on what is a preventable epidemic in this country.
-
But how can you succeed when you focus so narrowly in order to claim its caused by sexism?
-
You need to compare to the wider picture to see if being female really does cause you to be more at risk of violence by men. No.Much less so
-
Are you kidding?

This is not to say culture doesn't have any influence. In cultures where women are devalued & beating them is condoned, it happens more.
-
We don't live in one of those cultures tho. It's illegal & we have an ethos which makes it contemptible for men to hit women.

Compare reactions here and consider the social norms which go to create this.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dtVHnZX8E50&t=118s …

This really shows the vast majority of men don't think violence against women is acceptable. See how the patriarchy come to the rescue..
-
Yes, exactly.
