I understand calling someone names in anger. Not ideal but heat of the moment, It's a cold, casual rejection of humanity that chills me.

At the drop of a hat, someone can designate another human being 'racist piece of shit' or 'leftist scum' & wish them harm & even advocate it

Would you really have a problem if I called these people racist pieces of shit? How are they worthy of more?https://twitter.com/fred_connection/status/831081893030412288 …

Presumably you were talking about dialogue between more or less decent people with differing opinions. Fred's "fans" dehumanize themselves.

Yes. Like a conservative who views the left as "Libtards" or a progressive who'd never believe someone like Andrew Sullivan exists on right.

Yes. You know the mentality I'm talking about. Casual dehumanisation with very little justification. (Is 'drop of a hat' known outside UK?)

I don't know. I wasn't familiar with it. But it was in the 4th tweet of the thread so misunderstanding your point was easy in my opinion.

Easy enough to clarify. But you see this casual dehumanisation I'm talking about & influence on rhetoric around political violence?

I'm getting very vary of people who casually call others those dehumanising terms with very little to go on. Reveals dangerous attitude.
