Courtesy, honesty & kindness are needed and so is trying to find common ground but the problem needs to be laid out in no uncertain terms.

It is hard to get a balance between antagonising the people whose minds you want to change & capitulating & tolerating intolerance.

I think the best approach is to make strong arguments setting out the problem & what needs to change generally & aimed at no individuals.

And take a gentler, more empathetic approach in individual conversation,finding as much common ground as poss &acknowledging good intentions

But maintaining the same stance & argument, obviously. Unless given reason to change it.
