I quite agree. I'm just not sure what to do about it. The option 'care for all animals as humans' isn't doable. Children are in poverty.

We can & must insist that farm animals are not abused tho. Stronger penalties for those who do.

What would you prefer if you were a pig? Never be born. Have a short happy life & die painlessly. Live & die like a wild animal w/out care?

I'm not arguing for rescuing wild animals (right: priorities). If we breed animals, though, we should treat them as we would treat pets.

So farmers wouldn't breed them. What would happen? We'd let those alive now live out their lives & then no more pigs, cows, chickens?

Idk what the ethically optimal solution is. We've bred billions of lives for the sake of ending them prematurely. Farmers created this mess.

I don't know either but I don't like the option 'never get to live' or 'suffer & die in the wild'. Humane farming seems better to me.

Given that the option 'live out their entire lives provided with food, shelter & medical care, reproducing at will' isn't financially doable

I will change my mind if a humane & ethical solution is found. And I do accept the argument for setting them free in the wild has merits.

This issue will arise sooner or later. Reverse domestication seems like the best option. It would help if we stopped further breeding ASAP.

Kind of. They'd be less dependant on us but they wouldn't suffer or die any less. We'd just have relieved ourselves of the guilt of it.
