I think patriarchy is evident and gender is on a spectrum of construction where some are more fluid and others more fixed.

I'm a historian. I know patriarchy. I study patriarchy and how women navigated it. We don't live in a patriarchy.

It seems now to mean anything from 'more men in certain positions of power' and/or 'nasty men & crimes against women still exist.'

But no-one claims education, social care &publishing (the areas in which ideas circulate most) are matriarchy despite being female dominated
