But everyone can see you're doing that whereas in conversation, easier to deflect & carry on somewhere else & then the thread is lost.

It depends on the audience. Twitter especially tends to lend itself to biased audiences that don't hold you accountable

Hold each other accountable when you have a conversation. Audiences will do their own thing wherever they are.
