They might want to put their families first and not abandon them, for example. I'd argue this is a moral good.

He did. He said that God will provide, don't worry abt the future, give all money to poor, abandon family & follow him. Not very responsible

This is the problem. Even within Christianity, there is so much subjectivity. How literally do you take 'hate your family.'

They think they are obeying him and you are getting it wrong. Hopefully they accept its an honest mistake, not wanting to defy Christ.
