I would be inclined to think skepticism and agnosticism would be more highly correlated? Or does atheist title subsume agnostics?

Everyone is agnostic coz the existence of God is unknown. It's not a useful term except in philosophical sense of 'unknowable.'

I suspect devout catholics wouldn't describe themselves as agnostic, and they believe in spite of lack of evidence.

Generally, I lump atheism in with most religions, since it still demands adopting a position on existence in face of 0 supporting evidence

There's a lot of religions then. We all assume the non-existence of millions of things for which there is no evidence or we wldnt function.

Ppl tend to put gods in a category of their own but for many not raised in families or communities with God- belief, it's no different.

I don't think it's helpful to view atheism as a position which demands certain beliefs. That's the wrong way round.

It's just the name for a lack of one belief in one thing & it's probably better not to use it coz ppl have trouble understanding this.
