Some who followed me coz I'm critical of PoMo, intersectionality, identity politics & SocJus are disappointed I'm also critical of religion.

Doesn't mean I don't like & respect people who differ on these. If you do but still put up with me, you're not the problem I'm concerned abt
-
Think about it as a gradual process of sifting for followers who are gold [says a keen but modest follower very much on the same page].
-
I do lose die-hard ideologues which is good! :)
-
I suppose we are all ideologues. (Or do belief in incrementalist rational empiricism and classical liberalism not count as "ideologies"?)
-
I'm not talking abt ppl who have beliefs but ppl committed to an ideology in an obsessive & tribal way & inclined to regard dissent as evil
-
I think that last point is key. I've started to use "speech reprisals" as the thing I hate. The other point is "reason before solidarity".
-
Just look at you and me: we're from the same tribe but we'd never put that in the way of a debate bristling with insistent distinctions.

God is sacred. Everything else is fair game, including religion.
-
Well, I think the God concept is open to criticism too but I won't badger you with it if you don't want to discuss.
-
I don't mind. Should mention when discussing this I usually end up reflecting on the book of Job.
-
My impression from following your tweets is that you strive for a balance between reason & empathy.
-
And it isn't easy, even when you understand it as a goal.

Both are dogmatic but at least religion is honest about it. I follow you for balanced critique. Keep it up. Some of us are with you.

Ideology makes a horseshoe and the true believers on both sides are closer to each other than to the rest of us.
