It's simply an observation that atheists are a minority & scepticism or criticism of religion have been & are chief among prohibited ideas

i think the criticism of religion gets old pretty quickly. the critics dont offer much beyond that and have no long lasting institutions
-
They might have. It's just not related to one disbelief in one thing. I'm a liberal & a humanist & criticise religion on those grounds.
-
We must still be able to argue that it matters what is true & that evidence & reason are the best way to find out & that human rights matter
-
i think we have to avoid all the justificationist theology which alot of so-called skeptics fall into.

I don't know what you're talking about,

I haven't seen anything to indicate that all atheists have any shared values at all.
-
No, and I shouldn't be suspected of saying they do just because I observe that its in their interests to support freedom of speech.
-
Of course not. Universal suffrage is in an atheist's best interest too. But that doesn't mean anything either.
-
I don't know how this relates. Atheists aren't particularly vulnerable here.
-
Its simply true that justifying violence or prosecution for expressing ideas that a majority dislikes can justify doing that to atheists.
-
-
If you don't support free speech for people you hate, you don't support free speech at all.
-
Well, they don't. They're quite open about not supporting it. They just don't seem to think this cld be used to justify silencing them.

If people had no differing values, would freedom of speech even be necessary? Perhaps, but I'm not sure it would.
