If you have a religious experience or a moment when you feel "touched by god," doesn't that count as a reason? Who can say that is invalid?

Also worth mentioning that there's pretty good reason to believe that there are rational explanations for religious experiences.

Feeling a 'presence' is actually quite common, and seems to be a normal part of our psychology.

By "rational explanation" I suppose you mean neurological explanation. Always seemed pretty reductionist to me.

Could be. Could be other things. Not reductionist. Its just that 'God' isn't a rational option for an explanation till some evidence of one.

Can certainly weigh up many options and also say 'we don't know'.
