London leans heavily towards Labour whilst just outside it in Epping Forest, it's very conservative.
-
London not homogeneous though - outer parts vote similarly to Loughton, Brentwood etc

London is a unique entity. One major fault with politicians and media alike is assuming London's demographic is representative of the UK
-
Conversely their other mistake is assuming that the UK isn't entirely dependent upon the London economy
-
I'm sure they know. What I don't understand is when they lost sight of the fact that elections are simply popularity contests.....
-
You have to have try and appeal to the general electorate, whether you agree with them or not.
-
Only from a voting point of view. From a principles point of view its different. But that's the problem with London voting. It's irrelevant
-
The voting point of view is all that matters. I've heard so many people argue for sticking to principles even when it was clearly damaging..
-
Momentum were vehement that they wouldn't budge to the right because it was "wrong" despite there being huge numbers of centrist voters
-
Sticking to your principles is admirable, but when your view is narrow you cannot expect widespread support. You have to appeal generally.

To what do you attribute UK's urban and rural divide, which mirrors America's?
