'Then who gets to decide what's ethical?' isn't a gotcha response to opposition to cultural relativity. It misses the point completely.
Contexts aren't universal. In one its OK to kill gay ppl & in another it isn't. That is a fact. Moral relativity is upholding it.

I'm not saying the context determines morality. I'm saying that answers to what is right or wrong don't always translate from one to another
-
You're saying different cultures think different things are wrong and right? Yes or no need to talk abt cultural relativity
-
No, that's not what I'm talking about. Apparently I keep failing to explain myself.
-
Yes, sorry, I don't understand. Can you give an example of when killing LGBTs wld be morally right by liberal principles?
-
It would have to be in a society where LGBT people exist, are dominant, and are endangering the lives of non-LGBT people.
-
But that would hold true in whatever culture that happened. The morality would be consistent.
-
Not talking situational ethics - it's wrong to kill someone for their car but not to stop them killing you - but cultural values.
-
Cultural values cld be 'women shouldn't go out.' Can condemn this. Situational ones cld be 'women under house arrest shldnt go out'
