Though I think we think of liberal more as the ppl representing the label, than label representing the ppl. If that makes sense.

Yes, we do. That's essentially what I'm addressing. If liberal values are being imposed on you, liberals have become illiberal.

The terms liberal & conservative have come to mean many contradictory things. For many they are tribal labels, not coherent sets of ideas.
