I remember a conversation we had once. We can push our liberal values in some way. It's a bit of a paradox. Think speech, abortion etc.
But this burden is also on liberals who have to see conservative views all over the place. 5 churches in my town. Billboards & notices.

In a liberal society, everybody is pushing their views on each other in this sense but alternative is one view imposed on everyone.
-
The terms liberal & conservative have come to mean many contradictory things. For many they are tribal labels, not coherent sets of ideas.
-
So it’s important to define your terms (and continually remind folks when they try to cast you as saying something you’re not).
-
This is what I keep doing by discussing liberalism so much.

Yes. Yet we choose this because we think this is the best way. Some ppl don't agree.
-
Course not. They want their own view imposed on everyone. None of those people are liberal.
-
Exactly. And when a society is mostly liberal, those ppl can claim liberal views are being pushed on them.
-
But that doesn't make any sense unless, as I said, they mean 'my right to impose my values on others is being prevented.'
-
It is. I know this sounds ludicrous to us. But not all believe in liberty for all. Not truly. We make rules as a society. What is & what
-
I know they don't. But they cannot say that liberty is forced on them when their right to deny themselves any rights or freedoms remains.
-
It's not about just themselves. Not all are as focused on the individual as us. Conservatives focus more on the community.
-
Which is why I started by saying when they say values are imposed on them, they're usually talking abt other ppl's rights not their own
