But subjectivity is *part* of our world. So I think postmodernism works quite well in fiction. Just useless for science.

It is new and unusual, but it's also very hard to stop once it gets going. We can't unlearn all this knowledge.

I think we can. People seem to have less confidence in science now than 20 years ago.
