Wearing a hijab in the US is more an act of bravery than acquiescence to oppression. Likely to be met with harassment or discrimination.

How many are forced to wear "modest" clothing bc. of pressure from their family and religious leaders? Many (ex)Muslims complain about this.

Women are much more socially conservative in matters of dress, sexual behaviour, reproductive freedom etc.
