5/ promote human rights. Individuals have rights; groups do not. Otherwise we are tacitly allowing the stronger members of the group 2 bully

Most humans find powerlessness a v unpleasant sensation, esp when that powerlessness includes being forced 2 do things that make them
-
unhappy or stops them from doing things that make them happy. Being subjected 2 misery & having no way of alleviating that misery is not a
-
gd feeling. This is tautological. So, Dwp and Me, if you *don't* understand why this is, I'm afraid I'm not sure I can explain it to you.

I would say meaning is found in overcoming obstacles and finding a way to move forward in the struggle of existence.
-
OK. Doesn't having the right to be free, choose your own job, own property, vote, access education etc help with that?
-
Maybe, but I don't think that if in deprivation the best way to live life is to make it about demanding those rights for oneself.
-
It might or might not be. Some people could be happier just living with it especially if violence is likely to result from not doing so.
-
Depends how much you want to do the things you can't do & how central they are to your happiness.
-
If I were forced to marry at 12 & have child after child & never study or write, it would certainly be worth my while to fight this.
-
Who would you fight?

I am probably talking about a different kind of happiness than you.
-
Maybe. I just know I couldn't be happy if I wasn't allowed an education, a career, to decide how many kids I have & if I marry etc...
-
As a man, the idea of deciding how many kids I have and if I get married or not is rather novel but yes I agree it's a wonderful idea.
-
I dont think it's so often the case that people are *denied* an education as it is that they or their parents don't have resources for it. >
-
Please untag me, thanks!
-
Sorry if I was boring you.
-
No, I'm just not interested in this specific discussion at this time.
