I used to teach French to a Siddhartha. I do wonder about parents with <cough> ordinary names burdening their kids with outlandishnesses.

Hey! I agree with that actually but Siddhartha is not outlandish. Its a foundational name in Buddhism. Its like 'Paul.'
-
I am followed by two Indian Siddharthas. I admit Siddhartha Pluckrose would be a bit incongruous. Our son wldve been James.
-
It will be shortened to Sid Pluckrose. As are most Siddharthas in India.
-
That's fine! I like Sid & I like Arthur. He could pick either if he wanted to Anglicise.
-
Of course, I am getting ahead of myself. My girls will tell me to sod off with my Siddhartha nonsense.

If you're referring to Sam's latest podcast guest, then it should be interesting. He wrote the best book I ever read regarding cancer.
-
That reminded me but I've recently been friended by a couple of Siddharthas & it just has a really nice ring to it.
-
Sounds Anglo-Saxon but of course is not.

Alternatively, Sid Arthur.
-
This is what I will suggest if the daughter who is not Indian likes the name!
-
Fingers-crossed. ;-)

Sorry, but that's a heinous name, imo.
