So much of PoMo defenders' argument is 'subjective experiences exist' even tho the people they're arguing with almost never deny this.
-
-
It's usually that the former thinks these are everything and the latter thinks facts & statistical evidence are often more helpful.
-
Or that what is objectively true as far as can be ascertained actually matters for its own sake and for the future of humanity.
-
And so much time is wasted by people yelling at each other what amounts to 'subjective experiences exist' & 'facts exist.'
-
Ideally, both parties shld confirm they accept both exist & then discuss how influential they shld be in considering topic under discussion
-
Because sometimes subjective experiences are helpful but more often they just contradict each other & ppl pick ones that agree with them.
-
Subjective experiences are mostly useful when you want to know what a particular subject experienced. Otherwise statistics are better.
-
And acknowledging this does not make one heartless as so often insisted. Solving problems on a large scale requires data.
-
It's helping with problems on a small scale that doesn't. If my friend has had a horrible experience, I'll just listen & sympathise with her
-
Ppl claiming to go on 'lived experiences' so often fail to realise they pick the ones they listen to & so are really listening to themselves
-
Ludicrous situation in which a woman was showing me PoC saying cultural appropriation harmful & I showing her PoC saying 'Don't be so silly'

What is the difference between experience and 'lived' experience?
-
The latter has more dramatic impact.
