But in Norway alcohol is evil. At least from what I can see from government sponsored ads. So a pregnant women drinking is a big no-no!

I think ultimately it's about protecting the babies from mothers that can't control themselves. I'm not sure it's a bad idea, to be honest.

In one way I blame this idea that alcohol is bad that is hammered into childrens since they're kids. It's the forbidden fruit effect.

Probably! Have noticed Americans can also be quite neurotic & defensive abt alcohol. Brits & Irish just guzzle it unapologetically.

I don't think it does. From what I've been reading. In Portugal doctors will tell you that a glass of wine once in a while is not a problem.
