I'm getting better with the mute button. I don't understand ppl who won't engage in good faith. What do they get from engaging at all?

I'm a particularly argumentative person. I admit this. But its because I think some arguments are better than others & it matters.
-
I genuinely don't understand people who want to argue against things not being said and without having a coherent argument themselves.
-
There seems to be something inside some people that doesnt want to argue ideas but just oppose mindlessly for sake of opposing. Why?

Some people use social media as an excuse to lower the setting on their internal censor. People on the internet aren’t *real* anyway, right?
-
I get this but means they generally censor something inside themselves that wants to oppose mindlessly for sake of opposing. Why?

I think many of us have a reflexive urge to say things that might not be appropriate at times, but face-to-face norms keep that in check.
-
We moderate our tone, soften our approach, or simply don’t say whatever it is. But here the consequences for impolitesse are much lower.
-
But it's not about manners but what we hope to achieve. What's the point is simply being oppositional w/out having a point to make
-
Maybe it’s what some people do instead of annoying their family, or going to the pub and talking shite to whomever’s in earshot, etc.

I think I'm asking perfectly pertinent questions considering I don't know what you're talking about. Do you have his case study? Pass it on.
