:) No, I got that. I wasn't clear, sorry. I was suggesting that alternative forms of protest depend on the person in question. ->

Student, teacher, philosopher, scientist, journalist etc. So, I wondered if you were thinking of a specific group or field.

No, tailor it as appropriate but have a thoughtful, strategic & humane attitude.

Yes. I see now, you mean the attitude. I was thinking too practical.

If students had called Jordan Peterson 'Jordana' & referred to him as 'her' rather than demanding firing it would have tested his principles

No. His principles stand for not trying to impose your "feelings" on someone else, especially when they depart from objective reality.

You think his argument wasn't for free speech but 'I get to call you what I want but you don't coz I'm right'?

He also thinks he is a man, this is objectively true and that he should be referred to as such. He is willing to debate this w/o shaming.

If he is actually prepared to force other students to use his pronouns coz he's right whilst refusing to use theirs coz they're wrong 1/2

Then he's no champion of free speech. Everyone argues for things they think right being said. I don't think he is though. 2/2

If you are saying you don't think he merits protesting, I agree with you. I'm just suggesting what would have been an appropriate protest.

People champion free speech as a means of finding truth through logic and free debate. It demands the opposite of bowing to self delusions.

No, they don't. Its a basic human right of freedom. Only championing speech you think is right is not that. Ppl must be allowed to be wrong.

I agree entirely that free speech is for all. You miss the 2nd point. Don't merely accept all opinions as equally valid. Seek truth w vigor.
