I'm at home at the moment & I make myself available to the child when she gets in from school in case she wants my attention. Nope. 1/2

-
After she has recharged from a day of being with people & noise & caught up on her online games & homework, she comes to me at abt 7.30. 2/2
-
And we have a good chat & then we read or watch an episode of some family show, bed. Not sure she'd notice if I worked full-time.
-
I think there is also a difference between small children and teenagers. Personally, I will not let them go to daycare 5 days a week.
-
Three hours a day was OK for me.
-
Yes. But you didn't send her away 5 days for 12 hours. This happens. This is the part where I sometimes wonder why ppl have them.
-
Yes, me too.

Your "Not if ..." is what I'm referring to. Having two parents who have that kind of job.
-
A friend of mine is a lawyer and he says his colleague regularly facetimes her kid from the office to wish it goodnight. That's what I mean
-
Having two parents like that. I referred to the kid as "it" because I can't remember if it's a boy or a girl
-
You're talking about career women and men. That's why it's best to have a partner who is less ambitious or has a flexible program.
-
That's been my point the entire time.
-
I don't think anyone is disputing this tho.
-
Doesn't seem to be anyone in this conversation. Admittedly this did start from a slight misunderstanding from someone's part ...
-
Although someone did cite the example of the Clintons. Chelsea turned out ok. Not sure how many people want to be them though ...

It does depend on what one’s career is, I guess, but I think a decent balance is usually possible
