If he's an academic, he should know that you can't proscribe terms in academia. You can only describe what you mean by them.

The reality is *many* more hours go into our hobbies than our educations so someone interested in their major will know *far* more about it.

No. I did poorly in my nursing degree & was ultimately defeated by the enzymes of the liver.

By defeated, I mean I said 'Fuck this' and left. No internet then & my brain wouldn't retain the contents of turgid medical texts.
