You can blame Islam for a lot of things but not Ireland's blasphemy law! It's Catholic through and through!

This law was instituted in 2010. It's not something they just left on the books.

Ireland's previous blasphemy law was nullified in 1999. They deliberately re-instituted an anti-blasphemy law 10 years later.

Because they need to fulfill the constitution originating in Catholicism for one. The aim now is to overturn the constitutional requirement
