under pressure of what?

A very long history of Catholicism and failing to revoke laws the rest of 'Christendom' has.
-
This law was instituted in 2010. It's not something they just left on the books.
-
Well, it was softened then coz didn't want to get rid of it entirely.
-
Ireland's previous blasphemy law was nullified in 1999. They deliberately re-instituted an anti-blasphemy law 10 years later.
-
Because they need to fulfill the constitution originating in Catholicism for one. The aim now is to overturn the constitutional requirement

Inspired by Islam though!!
-
No, Ireland's Catholicism is not inspired by Islam. It's always been Catholic.
-
I didn't say their doctrine was inspired by Uslam I meant that their actions toward blasphemy were inspired by Islam!
-
Im Irish and I can tell you 100% our blasphemy law as it stands now was introduced in 2009 by hard line Catholics. Nothing to do with Islam
-
Does Garry have any reason to think Fry was reported by a Muslim rather than a Catholic? Way more of the latter in Ireland!
-
Totally unfounded. The suspicion here is the report was made by Catholic zealots who feel marginalised by the increased liberalisation here
-
Marginalised by the ever stronger victimhood of Islam
-
Please do not talk about Ireland like you have a clue

The Catholics have just seen that Islam is wealding its powers without any opposition and wants to get in on the action.
-
The laws are old ones that haven't been revoked!
