The claim was that there's loads of pressure to ban hijabs but no-one is saying a word abt the KKK. Sounds like confirmation bias to me.
-
I must point out that any law that bans the Burkha or Niqab would also necessarily ban KKK hats.
-
If the law was based on amount of head covered, yes, rather than a specific ban.
-
Yes. A specific ban would be unconstitutional (in France and also US, I believe) and unenforceable (religion would have to be proved)
-
Yes, OK, but we're really talking about attitudes and motivations here. Suppose enough ppl said 'fuck the constitution.'
-
If you tried to target certain burkha designs and exclude KKK outfits, muslim women would just walk around in KKK outfits.
-
You're still thinking of the legalities being applied universally. I'm thinking more of motivations.

I'm pretty sure some places did make mask laws in response to KKK hoods.

lol many of the places here where we have laws specifically against head/face coverings were a response to the KKK plus you rarely see them
-
Antifa are getting caught up on these common laws when they wear masks to protests they're called "anti-mask laws"
-
every public school pretty much has anti-hat rules too, you can't wear head-coverings in the building but they allow religious exceptions
-
biggest thing though is that most ppl can live their whole life in the US + never see anyone in person in a KKK hood. Their events are rare
