that it is better to manage tribalism constructively rather than try to eliminate it. A bit like religion, in a sense.

We do need to reduce its influence to a manageable level. Tribes create (and are created by) conflict.

Yeah. I think the difference is that sceptical types will worry at contradictions until resolved or say 'We don't know'

Whereas religious people might be more inclined to live with contradiction & accept both as true.
